The South African Farmer
Shadowing the eyes he looks
Far into the dusty land
The setting sun and the flying crows
Bringing the day to an end.
The noisy tractors
Heading for the barn
Loaded Lorries with supplies
Parking off with the farmers van
The sheep dog in a doggy run
Gathers the sheep in the pen
The cowboy on his galloping horse
Walks the cows to the shed
The farmer’s wife in jeans
Runs around ending the daily duty
With supper the darkness sets
No wonder she is always so pretty
Farm children are always busy
Helping mom or dad
With the school home work done
They call it a day
Listening to the barking dogs
The farmer plans the next day
Kneeling with respect
He thanked and prayed
Hard work has many rewards
You are a humble servant
You are the blessed ones
Slowly said the lord
